These are chemicals that are added to a spray mixture to enhance its efficacy. The chemicals seek to overcome the waxy cuticle barrier to uptake of pesticides that normally reduces efficacy of foliar applied pesticides. A number of these chemicals include wetters, thickeners, stickers, humectants, acidifiers and spreaders. The overall objective is to facilitate easier uptake of pesticides through foliage and other above ground plant parts. Adjuvants can be used with most post-emergent herbicides, insecticides and fungicides for thorough wetting and coverage of weeds and hence increase the spray mixture’s efficacy
